New Denny Lyon Design: Phone Cases, Handbags, T-Shirts, More: Fun Magic Coffee Fonts

Warriors Pearl Foundation: New Denny Lyon Design: Phone Cases, Handbags, T-Shirts, More: Fun Magic Coffee Fonts: From Denny:  Since I'm past due on posting about all my new designs the past year for Denny Lyon Gifts to benefit charities helping homeless female military veterans who were victims of sexual assaults I might as well get started today.

This was a fun design to create after drinking too much coffee one morning. :) We do so enjoy that awesome aroma every morning wafting out of the kitchen to rocket us out of bed to begin our day.  So, I just had to place it on an unexpected product choice:  handbags and wallets!

To "gild the lily" there were two more coordinating patterns if you want to experience some creative fun to mix and match.  The nautical theme is popular in fashion now as the 60's retro is back on the scene.  Of course, with my usual, sometimes off kilter art mind, I thought how cool is it to think of "navigating" our way to the welcoming waters of our morning coffee as a major achievement?...

Romancing The Chocolate: Cookies: Chocolate Nut Biscotti

Chocolate Nut Biscotti

Romancing The Chocolate: Cookies: Chocolate Nut Biscotti: From Denny: A wonderful cookie recipe from one of my favorite coffee sites: Gevalia. This cookie pairs well with a French Roast or a Dark Roast coffee choice.

I've been ordering from them since Time began it seems. Gevalia is from Sweden where folks drink a ridiculous amount of coffee. We thought Americans were addicted. These guys make us look like amateurs! :)

When I was up on the site ordering some new items today I noticed they started putting up some recipes. You know me; I've got to collect them for you and me to try.

{{Potd/2006-08-30 (en)}}Image via Wikipedia

From Denny: Here's a video I missed though I've long known the benefits of drinking coffee for the heart. Did you know that drinking both coffee AND tea throughout the day actually builds your bone density? Good for all of us to know!

Drinking coffee has the following benefits:

* reduces risk for diabetes and Parkinson's disease

* helps treat headaches

* boosts concentration and athletic performance

* improves asthma

"A new study found that daily coffee consumption reduces the risk of stroke. Julie Chen spoke with Dr. Jennifer Ashton about the other health benefits of coffee."

Organic Coffee That Burns Fat!: "Bskinny Coffee aka Skinny Coffee is a Thermogenic Fat Burning Coffee that helps you lose weight while enjoying a great cup of coffee.

The combination of Coffee and Weight Loss could be a huge winner since Coffee is the second most consumed beverage on the planet and weight loss is a 35 Billion Dollar industry. Together this could make Bskinny a household name, not to mention make Boresha an absolute fortune."

By bskinny @ HubPages

From Denny: Here's a short article about coffee from a new writer over at HubPages who is, of course, promoting their coffee company. This weight loss idea is a new one on me, fascinating read! Especially nice that the proceeds from this coffee company she writes about go to help children in Africa caught up in the civil wars and participating as soldiers.

Drink Coffee: Lower Risk of Uterine Cancer

  * Description: Coffee cortado (An latte...Image via Wikipedia

From Denny: If you needed yet another good excuse for drinking that extra cup of coffee or tea this is it! A new study out suggests that drinking coffee and tea may help reduce the risk of endrometrial cancer (lining of the uterus).

It seems researchers are just now looking at the role of diet. They already have established other factors as indicators for risk like older age, obesity, late menopause and estrogen therapy after menopause.

The study was comprised of 1,100 women who were drinkers or non-drinkers of coffee and tea. They found the drinkers had a lower risk of this uterine cancer.

What were the stats? According to the report in the International Journal of Cancer, women who were drinking at least four cups or a day of coffee AND tea were found to have only half the incidence of endrometrial cancer as the non-drinkers in the study. Women who drank at least two cups of tea a day were found to have a lower risk by 44%. As to women who ONLY drank about two cups of coffee a day there was a lower risk as well by 29%.

Why do coffee and tea protect against this type of cancer? Researchers can only speculate right now, thinking it is the caffeine. One idea they put forth is that caffeine does induce certain enzymes that can help neutralize what might prove to be potentially harmful cancer-causing substances.

We have all been reading about antioxidants for years to know that may also be a factor: flavonoids, catechins and isoflavones. These substances all protect the body's cells from damage which eventually could lead to cancer.

These beverage drinkers seem to also have a lower body weight which may be of help.

For now, researchers are only suggesting there is a strong association between the beverages of coffee and tea lowering the risk of uterine cancer. Whether these beverages are actually responsible for lowering the risk requires more research to prove.
